As a conceptual artist who creates art actions about social and environmental issues, I believe that in today's world of reality television and digital media - and the resulting decline in literacy and attention spans - that art will come to play an increasingly larger role in highlighting global issues. Art captures fleeting moments of attention.
My art action 'Black Parthenon' in Melbourne, Australia about the global issue of cultural appropriation also calls for the return of the Parthenon Marbles. As a light work it was highly visible and created significant thought and feedback.
Artists today have an important role in representing the voice of reason, ethics and cultural morality.
