Terike Haapoja, "Open Circuit - Open Duration," 2008. Solo exhibition at Forum Box Gallery, Helsinki. The seven exhibition works create a garden where organic, digital, electronic, human and non-human processes overlap. The viewer becomes an inhabitant of the garden as he or she wanders through different spaces and scenery. The installations investigate the ways in which we can perceive the world beyond our senses, and seek new possibilities for interaction between the human and non-human worlds. The works use methods of environmental research to realize this interaction; different elements, such as the circulation of CO2, sound waves or changes in light, merge with the viewer's movements. The exhibition included collaborations with environmental researchers and professionals from the fields of biology, computer programming, and technology.
