  • Yinka Shonibare MBE has unveiled a new site-specific sculpture at Howick Place, a real estate development in London’s Victoria district. Wind Sculpture “explores the notion of harnessing movement, through the idea of capturing and freezing a volume of wind in a moment in time.” The sculpture was inspired by Nelson’s Ship in a Bottle (2010), Shonibare’s project for the Fourth Plinth in London’s Trafalgar Square.
  • Vija Celmins: Double Reality is at the Riga Bourse Art Museum (Riga, Latvia) through June 22. Works on view include two “stone works” (1977–1982), stones that Celmins gathered in the desert and then cast in bronze. Closes June 22.
  • Multiple Occupancy: Eleanor Antin’s “Selves” is on view at the Institute for Contemporary Art (Boston, MA). The exhibition features work that Antin created between 1972 and 1991, including a number of different “selves” of varying genders, races, professions, historical eras, and geographic locations. Closes July 6.
  • Carrie Mae Weems will host a multidisciplinary performance-salon at the Guggenheim Museum (New York, NY) this weekend, April 25–27. Focusing on contemporary cultural production in the areas of dance, film, literature, music, theater, and visual art, her “all-star” cast will include appearances by Jason Moran, Theaster Gates, and Art21 artists Julie Mehretu and Shahzia Sikander. Read the complete line-up in the program brochure.
  • Alfredo Jaar’s 30-minute film Muxima (2006) is on view at the San Diego Museum of Art (San Diego, CA) through July 8. Jaar will speak at the Museum on April 23, 7pm.
  • Mark Dion will lecture at the Hammer Museum (Los Angeles, CA) on April 23, 12:30pm.
