This weekend, Season 2 artist Collier Schorr will be introducing a series of vintage film screenings curated by artist Richard Prince (and subject of the concurrent exhibition Richard Prince: Spiritual America, which closes Weds, January 9). Ranging from classic dramas and cult shorts, to obscure, retro X-rated flicks, these films shed light on the artist’s vision and creative practice. Screenings begin Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm in the New Media Peter B. Lewis Theater in the Sackler Center for Arts Education, with introductory remarks by Schorr. Film screenings are free with museum admission and open to the public. Read more about the complete list of films to be screened here.

Collier Schorr, “Cinderella Motel” production still, 2007

Cinderella Motel, a new short film by Season Two featured artist Collier Schorr, is currently playing on the New York Times Magazine’s video channel. The film depicts a group of cowboys holed up in a local motel the morning after a rodeo competition in Red Bluff, California. A montage of interviews with the young cowboys, footage of the actual rodeo, and still photographs of the men shot during the competition, the film encapsulates the moments between acts of intense physicality that define Schorr’s signature photographic (and now filmic) style.
